Where do you live and how did you hear about us?
We are originally from London, currently living in Kings Beach. We are new to the area, so we went online to study about Tahoe, get to know what happens around in the area. We had come across The Sugar Pine Foundation on Facebook and saw that you host open Sugar Pine planting days where everyone is welcome to join. This was perfect for us as we wanted to meet some local people and pay if forward for being able to live in this beautiful part of the world. We had seen many of the wild fires last year whist cycling the Pacific coast, so this event was close to our hearts as we have seen what a devastation wild fires can bring to people and Nature.

How did you like the planting and what did you enjoy most?
Oh it was wonderful, so well organized. It was the first time, I have ever planted trees (Ben has done this many times before) and Maria & Keith were most helpful, giving us the history of that particular wild fire, the full life circle of the seedlings and how to plant them correctly. They were always around should you have any questions, encouraging and inspiring. We met many great people on the day. It was particularly nice to see families with small children joining in and planting the seedlings, what a beautiful experience for a child. We also planted one seedling in a place so that we would remember exactly where it was, we look forward to going back to the spot and watching the seedling grow over the years. It is pretty special to have Ben and I's tree at Lake Tahoe.

Would you do this again? What would you tell others about it?
We will absolutely join every time we are able to. Its a wonderful day for everyone, whether you are on your own (you are paired up in small groups) or with your family. We loved rocking the hard hats, and running around the hill. If you are competitive - its a great way to get a challenge on, if you are feeling down - this is a fantastic pick me up afternoon, if your little ones have too much energy - its a fantastic opportunity to put it to a good use. This was a wonderful experience and put big smiles on our faces. We could not recommend it enough!
